Overall Purpose of The Job
The Junior Category Manager supports our internal and external clients through contracts, to provide competitive solutions in a safe and regulatory way, with the aim to become a world class supply chain.

The Junior Category Manager, with the support of Category Manager / Senior Category Manager defines and implements the supply chain strategies to the assigned categorie(s) with:
- The preparation and execution of tenders and supplier negotiations until business awarding and contracting, including cataloguing requirements.
- The management of category portfolio to optimize the global supplier network in terms of cost, quality and delivery (TCO).
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Support the Category Manager / Senior Category Manager to define and implement the Category Strategy (including annual baselining, development of long-term strategies for contracting, risks, improvement of value proposition of the Category to the business, implementation of defined measures, performance tracking and reporting).
- Support the Category Manager / Senior Category Manager to manage and execute tendering projects within the assigned category/ies from the start to the end with the support of the benchmark/tender team and according to the sourcing process in place: Tender strategy, preparation of tender package, internal and external communications, quotation analysis, supplier negotiations, contracting, business awarding.
- Continuously analyse, benchmark and optimise the global supplier network (in close collaboration with the benchmarking team), seeking to rationalise the tail spend by reducing / consolidating suppliers and items in the assortment and in full agreement with the business.
- Identify opportunities to optimise utilisation (and associated fees) including communicating / improving existing contracts and signing new Marcas contracts. This includes reviewing and analysing the non-contracted, non-Marcas spend or similar and working in close collaboration with Fleet Cells.
- Maintain continuous monitoring of market developments, awareness of new purchasing techniques, product technologies and supply market activities related to the Category in order to identify and exploit commercial, logistical and technical opportunities.
- Support the Category Manager / Senior Category Manager to define, monitor and report category KPIs and financials (including savings performance of category, contracted / penetration and trends, tender status updates, etc). Preparation and issuance of fortnightly pipe of initiatives, activity report and category overview presentation to monitor actions and implementation progresses

Essential
- Successful track record in developing and managing supplier agreements to deliver significant cost reductions in organization(s) with multiple stakeholders.
- Commercial experience in similar role / position or as a Buyer in the maritime / shipping industry.
- Supply chain, Procurement or Sourcing background.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Convincing communication, moderation and negotiation skills.
- Experienced in working with MS office.
- Fluent English skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with people both inside and outside the company.
- Self-motivated, good team spirit and flexibility.
- Assertiveness with a pro-active and can-do approach to work.
- Ability to create his/her own network within the organization and to manage by consensus.
Desirable
- Background / experience within ship management.
- Experience of supply chain, procurement or sourcing.
- P&L / budget responsibility.
- Degree level educated in relevant subject.
