R&D at Ahlstrom is organized at two levels: within the Business Divisions/Units (BUs), with dedicated teams focused on developing new products that meet specific customer needs, and at Group level, through the Group Innovation team. This team provides transversal support to the BUs with deep expertise in fiber technology, analytical science, and the development of breakthrough technologies.
In this context, we are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Analytical Chemistry Technician to join our team. The selected candidate will work closely with the R&D teams in the BUs and Group experts to ensure the quality, reliability, and relevance of the analyses carried out, thus contributing to the success of Ahlstrom’s innovation projects.
Main responsabilities
- Understand our customers' needs and issues (troubleshooting, reverse-engineering, claims…)
- Evaluate and decide which analysis would be of interest for answering those, in total autonomy
- Perform the selected laboratory experiments in total autonomyI
- Interpret the results to explain them and make recommendations to our customers
- Summarize analyses and results in written reports (in both French and English)
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, complying with good housekeeping and safety practices
Key Competencies and Essential Skills
- Competencies and qualifications required in the role
- Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Analytical Chemistry, Paper Science or any related field
- Knowledge of one or more of these analytical techniques is required: ICP, Ion Chromatography
- Additionally, you will regularly use the following techniques depending on the request needs: XRF, SEM, GC, titration, furnish analysis.
- Knowledge of paper material or other “soft” materials (like textile) is a plus.
- Creative thinking and technical curiosity to explore innovative analytical approaches
- Problem solving skills and the ability to work autonomously
- Scientific & Technical Curiosity
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written technical communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical data/reports (In French and in English)
- Working knowledge of basic computer software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint)
- A first successful experience in Material Science, Analytical Chemistry, Paper Science or any related field would be appreciated
