General Counsel France
We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and business-minded General Counsel France to join our Legal & Compliance team. You will be the lead legal advisor for ArcelorMittal’s operations in France, managing a local legal team and ensuring effective legal and compliance support across all business functions.
This position offers significant responsibility, visibility, and the opportunity to influence key decisions at both local and international levels.

Responsibilities
Specific accountabilities and responsibilities include:
- Serve as the principal legal advisor to the French leadership team and functions.
- Lead, coach, and manage the local legal team; drive a culture of high performance, collaboration, and accountability.
- Deliver strategic legal advice on commercial, regulatory, corporate, labor, and environmental matters.
- Oversee contract negotiation and management across procurement, sales, logistics, and distribution.
- Provide legal support for strategic initiatives including M&A, joint ventures, restructuring, and capital projects.
- Monitor and manage litigation, disputes, and investigations, coordinating external counsel where necessary.
- Ensure robust compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., anti-corruption, data privacy, trade compliance).
- Develop and deliver training and awareness programs on legal and compliance issues.
- Build strong relationships with key external stakeholders including legal advisors and regulatory bodies.
- Partner with regional and global legal teams to ensure alignment with group-wide legal strategies and best practices.
- Actively contribute to global legal initiatives and continuous improvement programs
Profile Description
Experience:- 12–15 years of experience in legal practice (law firm and/or in-house), including commercial, corporate, regulatory, and environmental law.
- Proven track record in managing complex legal projects and transactions.
- Experience in industrial or large multinational environments is a strong plus.
- Master’s degree in French Law (Bac +5).
- Fluent in French; proficient in English (spoken and written).
- Strong leadership, team development, and project management skills.
- Business-oriented mindset with the ability to provide pragmatic and solution-focused legal advice.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, international, and matrixed environment.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
- The position will be located in Paris but you might have to travel from time to time in France (and occasionally abroad)
