This is an exciting time to join the team as we step up operations in new countries and commence work on new and challenging projects. As a result of this growth, we are looking to recruit a Senior Human Resources Advisor.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To support the HR Manager in ensuring that we have sufficient employees of the right calibre to meet our strategic ambitions in the EMEA region. This will be achieved by providing a proactive, high quality and people-centred human resources service for Salute Mission Critical and its subsidiaries and clients, across the full employment life cycle.

The job holder will deputise for the HR Manager and cover for the HR Advisor when required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/KEY RESULT AREAS:

Strategic HR

  • Assist the HR Manager and Director of People and Culture in determining, and delivering on, HR’s strategic priorities.
  • Lead the work required to set up and implement a workforce planning process which enables the organisation to assess future needs. This will include partnering with leaders and key managers to establish current and future workforce plans, including skills gaps and plans ways in which these gaps can be addressed through succession planning, secondments, promotions, transfers or via recruitment.

Functional HR

HR Advice

  • Provide expert employment law advice and guidance for all of Salute Mission Critical’s operations by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and custom and practices in EMEA.
  • Lead on creating and updating Employee Handbooks for all the EMEA regions taking into considerations the labour law of the country and policies.
  • Take responsibility for supporting line managers with all casework issues of employees below SMT level. This includes formal and informal disciplinary and grievance cases, long-term and intermittent sickness absence management and any welfare concerns raised by employees or their managers.
  • Be a mentor for the HR Advisor, team leads and some of the newly appointed Managers in EMEA.

Recruitment Support

  • Support Managers and the Talent acquisition team and provide an efficient, service-oriented process for all new hires.
  • Provide functional expertise on onboarding processes
  • Provide expert professional advice on appropriate terms and conditions of engagement for all workers in the UK and internationally, only referring decisions up to the HR Manager when they are outside of existing policy parameters.

Organisational Development

  • Support the change processes, whether structural or cultural, with appropriate HR techniques so that changes are smooth and embedded effectively.
  • Ensure Salute Mission Critical has an effective performance appraisal system that creates an environment in which people feel supported, valued and accountable. Assess the effectiveness of the system periodically in terms in ease of use, ability to accurately capture assessment of past performance, support in setting meaningful objectives for the following year and provision of quality training needs data.
  • Lead on job evaluation so that all Salute Mission Critical jobs are evaluated, and rigour is maintained in salary setting in relation to job evaluation results.
  • Maintain (and develop where necessary) a comprehensive range of people policies that make Salute Mission Critical a desirable place to work, are aligned with our strategic priorities and principles, and are kept up to date in line with current legal guidance and best practice.

Transactional HR

Provide effective HR transactional services

  • Act as the first point of contact on HR queries of substance (as opposed to process), providing rapid responses which are user-friendly, professionally correct and clearly articulated. Where an immediate response cannot be given, ensure that the enquirer is aware that their query is being addressed and when it will be resolved.
  • Check accuracy of monthly payroll data prepared by the HR Advisor and submit to HR Manager for final sign-off.
  • Check accuracy of contractual documents prepared by the HR Advisor
  • Carry out administration required to fulfil functional responsibilities such as booking inductions
  • Provide support with the implementation of the HRIS and ensure it is updated and maintained.
  • Ensure robust management of all personal data handled by HR, adhering to Salute Mission Critical’s data protection policies and more broadly to the EU GDPR.
  • Manage external pensions provider contract ensuring that performance against that contract is monitored regularly and any concerns are resolved

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Qualifications

  • A level or international equivalent
  • CIPD qualification equivalent to Level 5 or above (or working towards) / Member of the CIPD.

Experience

  • Familiarity with expert knowledge workers who engage with the organisation via different mechanisms including employment contracts, contracts for services and secondments
  • Delivering functional HR expertise across the full generalist remit including recruitment, reward, organisational development, change management, employee relations
  • Provision of first-class HR transactional services which are highly regarded by end users Knowledge and skills
  • Up to date working knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills based on trust and integrity
  • Ability to retain professional boundaries whilst working closely and effectively with a highly skilled and multicultural workforce
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good understanding of, and the ability to apply, the principles of confidentiality
  • Good IT skills, including the development of HR databases, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage own workload.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and productively as part of a team
  • Good understanding and application of the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion in an HR context.

Personal qualities

  • Self-confidence, personal credibility and the ability to support and challenge others appropriately
  • Friendly and approachable with high emotional intelligence
  • Pragmatism and problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively when faced with new problems, but also being pro-active in anticipating people concerns.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to rapidly changing situations as well as being able to prioritize.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Desirable

  • Up to date working knowledge of employment legislation in the EMEA region
  • Experience of HR support in an international context supporting remote working
  • Experience of working in the Data Centre industry.

The role is a full-time position, and your base salary will be commensurate with experience but is expected to be highly competitive. The opportunity is located in France and will include business travel as needed to meet business demands but will likely be nominal.
