Job Description:
Airbus Helicopters’ Civil Software Products department is responsible for the development and integration of embedded software, implementing safety critical functionalities.
The department is involved in the development of in-house solutions and is supporting the development of products developed by other internal entities or external suppliers, ensuring that the development processes follow the applicable guidelines (eg ED-12/DO-178) for civil and military certification.
In order to ensure this mission, we are looking for an embedded software architect.
As embedded software architect you will be involved in the approach, design, scoping, development, testing and deployment of software solutions.
You'll combine technical leadership with hands-on architectural guidance to deliver high-quality software products while maintaining existing systems. You are an translator who can turn our clients' high-level visions into low-level technical details, and back.
You are cool under pressure and comfortable sitting face-to-face with the client to understand their needs and concerns, while also eager to write code and support the team in delivering the solutions.
As a embedded software architect, there will be ample opportunity to introduce new and better technologies, techniques, and solutions that grow our expertise and provide better solutions for our customer.

Your challenges:
You will join a department developing new systems for an aircraft under development.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Design and architect custom software solutions while ensuring technical standards and best practices
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable solutions for stakeholders and clients while ensuring the product match with the required safety, quality and performance levels according to the systems engineering processes and customer needs
Maintain and modernize legacy applications while ensuring system stability
Collaborate with teams to design and build practical and extensible software solutions for future investment and growth.
Communicate technical concepts clearly and creatively to create inspired conversation and alignment.
Advocate best engineering practices, develop and implement strategies for reducing the lag between idea and production.
Modernize continuous integration and continuous delivery tooling and processes.
Work with stakeholders, customers and development teams to align the architectural direction.
Develop (maintainable and reusable) Software components, taking into account their performance on Hardware and what is done on other avionics projects
Your profile:
The ideal candidate has the following experiences and skills:
Educated to 5 years’ degree level (or equivalent) in computer science, electronics or related discipline.
12+ years in development of embedded real time software (C, ada, …)
Experience with ED-12/DO-178 certification or other industries standards (e.g.: IEC 61508, ISO 26262, ..)
Experience in embedded development on Real Time operation system
Experience with configuration management processes and tools (e.g. svn, git, clearcase…)
Very good knowlegde on avionic systems
Good communication skills : adhesion of decision-makers
Fluent in English and French
> Other experience in related domains will also be appreciated. This includes:
Familiarity with model based development (e.g. Scade, Simulink)
Experience with graphical software development (e.g. VAPS)
Familiarity with continuous integration processes and tools (e.g: Jenkins)
Experience in simulation / modelisation
Experience working with agile methods (e.g. scrum)
