Primary Purpose of the Position
The Luxembourg Metrology organization at Goodyear is responsible for the chemical and forensic analysis of rubber products, compounds, polymers, and other chemicals in support of product development, manufacturing operations, and quality assurance. The team collaborates with cross-functional product and production groups to help define performance targets for tires and their components. Team members also contribute to foundational programs that support Goodyear’s competitive advantage in tire performance and cost efficiency
As a Laboratory Technical you will:
- Support laboratory operations by ensuring accurate and appropriate sample preparation.
- Perform laboratory tests using standardized and non-standardized methods, including techniques such as thermal analysis, chromatography, and wet chemistry.
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results for raw materials and in-process products, while strictly following safety and quality protocols.
- Conduct basic data analysis to validate test outcomes and report any deviations or anomalies.
- Support the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of chemical analysis techniques such as chromatography, thermal analysis, and wet chemistry to effectively operate laboratory instruments and ensure accurate, reliable results.
- Utilize acquired training to routinely perform sample isolation and preparation for chemical analysis in accordance with established procedures.
- Document observations and conclusions clearly and concisely in both laboratory notes and formal reports.
- Manage time and resources efficiently to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and requests.
To join our team, you will need:
Education & Certification:
- A BTS in Laboratory Technology or Applied Sciences is required.
- A BS in laboratory technology, physics, chemistry or science related field with relative experience is advantageous.
Experience:
- 2–3 years of practical experience in chemical analysis within a laboratory setting.
- Proficient in operating laboratory instrumentation, including chromatographic (GC, HPLC, GPC), spectroscopic (UV-Vis, IR), thermal (TGA, DSC), and wet chemical analysis techniques.
- Experience in, or a strong willingness to learn and apply, diverse sample isolation and preparation procedures in accordance with established laboratory protocols.
Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities:
- Good knowledge of chemistry and chemical analysis techniques.
- Ability to follow laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability in documenting results.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in English and French, written and spoken.
