Electronics Technician
Context
The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for scientific research using neutrons. Every year, we host over 2000 visits by scientists, who come to the Institute to carry out world-class research.
You will be part of the team of engineers and technicians responsible for the maintenance and the development of the electronic hardware in use on the various instruments of the ILL.
As a member of the electronics team, you will contribute to the maintenance, development and qualification of electronic equipment used on scientific instruments.

As a member of the electronics team, you will contribute to the maintenance, development and qualification of electronic equipment used on scientific instruments.
Your tasks
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining existing equipment and producing newly developed electronic modules
- Routing electronic boards and following up the manufacturing process
- Monitoring the obsolescence of currently used electronic components to ensure their timely replacement before components become unavailable
- Setting up and executing various tests to qualify electronic modules prior to their installation on the instruments
- Interpreting test results and producing appropriate technical reports
- Working in close collaboration with scientists and instrument users to understand operational needs and ensure the reliability of the electronic systems
Your profile
You must demonstrate the following qualifications and skills:
- Level 4/5 qualification (HNC/HND, foundation degree or equivalent) in instrumentation or electronics, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience with analog circuits and signal processing, as well as the use of test bench software (e.g. LabVIEW)
- Confirmed skills in CAD software, preferably Orcad or Altium PCB
- Proficiency in VHDL and FPGA programming
- Strong hands-on approach, meticulous and autonomous in your day-to-day work
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with technical and scientific teams
- Working knowledge of English would be an asset
