Role Summary
We are seeking a Composite Stress Analysis Engineer with a minimum of 7+ years of experience in structural analysis of composite components for aircraft cabin interiors. The successful candidate will work closely with the Design and Certification teams to ensure structural integrity and regulatory compliance of composite interior components such as panels, monuments, and seating structures. This role emphasises finite element analysis (FEA), material behaviour of composites, and compliance with Part 25 structural requirements.
Dimension of Function
The Composite Stress Analysis Engineer will be responsible for performing detailed stress analysis of composite structures used in cabin interiors. This includes static, dynamic, and damage tolerance analysis using industry-standard tools and methods. The engineer will also support design optimisation, test correlation, and documentation for certification purposes, ensuring compliance with CS/FAR 25 regulations.
Area of Responsibility
- Perform static analysis of composite cabin interior components (seat frames, actuators, armrests, and attachment points) to evaluate their strength, durability, and performance under various loading conditions.
- Conduct fatigue and damage tolerance analyses to ensure the long-term durability of seating systems and compliance with relevant airworthiness standards.
- Develop and validate finite element models (FEM) for structural analysis for both metallic & composite materials.
- Ensure compliance with CS/FAR 25 structural requirements for composite materials.
- Support design teams in optimising composite / Metallic structures for weight, strength, cost and manufacturability.
- Review and approve engineering drawings and stress reports.
- Correlate analysis results with physical test data and support test planning.
- Collaborate with certification engineers to ensure documentation meets regulatory standards.
Knowledge / Experience
- Minimum – Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Aerospace/Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in composite / Metallic stress analysis in aerospace interiors.
- Proficiency in FEA tools such as NASTRAN, PATRAN, and HyperMesh.
- Strong understanding of composite material behaviour and failure modes.
- Familiarity with CS/FAR 25 structural compliance requirements.
- Experience with aerospace interior design and manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
